How to use our decking calculator:

3. Board type: Select the type of decking boards you'll be using.

4. Custom boards? If you have unique boards, choose "Composite Decking (Custom)" and enter your dimensions.

5. Waste not, want not: Add a Waste Factor percentage (we suggest around 10%) to account for any cutoffs.

6. Joist type: Select the type of joists you'll be using.

7. Joist details: Adjust the Width, Height, Length, Spacing, and Overhang of your joists if needed.

8. Noggins?: Choose whether you'll be including noggins in your deck.

9. Joist waste: Add a Waste Factor for the joists too (again, around 10% is a good starting point).

10. Units: Click "Switch Units" to change between metric and imperial measurements whenever you like.

11. Results: Check out your calculated Total Deck Area, Number of Boards Needed, and Number of Joists!
